| رد : مجموعة كتب عن Catalysis Product Description In the past few years, supramolecular chemistry has led to new approaches in homogeneous catalysis. While host-guest chemistry had already found applications in catalysis as a result of the pioneering work carried out by Professor Ronald Breslow and Nobel prizewinner Professor Jean-Marie Lehn that began some 40 years ago, the construction of catalysts by supramolecular forces has only recently become a powerful tool. This development paves the way for large numbers of new potential catalysts that can be varied in an expedient way by changing the constituting building blocks. Written by some of the leading contributors in the field, this book is intended for both industrial and academic chemists with an interest in this area of catalysis. With its discussion of topics from ligand libraries to chirality-directed self-assembly, this is a must-have for chemists with organic, catalytic and polymer backgrounds, as well as those employing such compounds in industrial processes. | رد : مجموعة كتب عن Catalysis Impact of Surface Science on Catalysis (Advances in Catalysis) by Bruce C. Gates (Editor), Helmut Knoezinger Editorial Reviews Review "...the contributions to this volume without exception, all heavyweight performers on the world stage have produced admirably lucid chapters, the one by Norskov and Hammer being among the best available synoptic accounts of the use of density functional theory to describe reactions at surfaces. This is the first time ever for editors of 'Advances' to focus exclusively on a signal theme. It is to be hoped that they will repeat the practice frequently in the future." --ANGEWANDTE CHEMIE --This text refers to the Paperback edition. Product Description Since 1948, this series has filled the gap between the papers that report on and the textbooks that teach in the diverse areas of catalysis research. The editors of and contributors to Advances in Catalysis are dedicated to recording progress in this area. Each volume of Advances in Catalysis contains articles covering a subject of broad interest. Advances in Catalysis 45 is dedicated to a single theme: the impact of surface science on catalysis. | رد : مجموعة كتب عن Catalysis Review compiling this volume as both a reference text and graduate-level textbook. The editor has done an exceptional job of assembling an outstanding group of contributors, resulting in an easy to read and aesthetically pleasing volume. this book nicely fulfills its goal of providing an excellent introductory text for graduate students embarking on a career in catalysis, or surface science applied to catalysis. The chapters are generally easy to read and provide a strong grounding in each topic with extensive bibliographies to lead the reader to a more detailed exploration of the subject. I would certainly strongly recommend this book to any academic or industrial laboratory as a source for new practitioners to gain an excellent overview of modern catalytic science. Wilfred Tysoe, university of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, in Nanotoday, Vol. 2, No. 3, June 2007 I was delighted to see that each chapter has at the end a series of questions/problems, although thelevel of these ranges from merely reproducing knowledge to solving an insightful case study. It is clear that the latter is my preference when using a specific chapter for teaching students. gives up-to-date views on a wide variety of catalysis topics and their important contributions to different areas of technologycertainly a valuable book for anyone with an interest in molecular views of heterogeneous catalysis. Furthermore, a selection of individual chapters can be used as a basis for university courses on catalysis at the Masters and PhD student level. Bert Weckhuysen, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Vol. 46, 2007 Product Description Using new instrumentation and experimental techniques that allow scientists to observe chemical reactions and molecular properties at the nanoscale, the authors of Surface and Nanomolecular Catalysis reveal new insights into the surface chemistry of catalysts and the reaction mechanisms that actually occur at a molecular level during catalysis. While each chapter contains the necessary background and explanations to stand alone, the diverse collection of chapters shows how developments from various fields each contributed to our current understanding of nanomolecular catalysis as a whole. The book describes how the size and shape of materials at the nanoscale can change their chemical and physical properties and promote more efficient reactions with fewer by-products. First it highlights the preparation, characterization, and applications of heterogeneous and supported metal catalysts. Then it covers the engineering of catalytic processes, structure and reaction control, and texturological properties of catalytic systems. The authors explain how surface science can elucidate reaction mechanisms and discuss the growing role of high-throughput experimentation and combinatorial approaches in catalysis. From fundamental concepts to future directions, Surface and Nanomolecular Catalysis offers a well-rounded compilation of noteworthy developments which will continue to expand and transform our understanding of catalysis, particularly in the context of clean energy and environmental applications such as fuel cells. | رد : مجموعة كتب عن Catalysis Review "This book reflects both his [the author] breadth of knowledge and his ability to use that knowledge." (The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, October 2006) "... well-written and are a valuable guide for process chemists into how heterogeneous catalysis is carried out in industry on large scale. ... The book is only recommended to those who wish to gain an appreciation of heterogeneous catalysis and its application in the bulk chemical industry." (Organic Process Research & Development) Product Description Despite the fact that more than 900f production processes in industry are catalyzed, most chemists and engineers are restricted to trial and error when searching for the proper catalyst. This book is the first emphasizing industrial aspects of catalysis and also particularly well suited to studying on one's own. It is dedicated to both, homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis and in this second, edition biocatalysis, electrocatalysis, photocatalysis and asymmetric catalysis are also included; topics like zeolites, metals and olefin catalysis are now discussed in more detail. The book aids practically oriented readers in becoming familiar with the processes of catalyst development and testing and therefore deals with aspects of test planning, optimization and reactor modeling and simulation with the easy-to-learn PC program POLYMATH. Well over 100 exercises help to test and consolidate the gained knowledge. | رد : مجموعة كتب عن Catalysis Review From the reviews: "Van Leeuwen deals with the subject thoroughly and logically. He helps to pull together all the various strands, with very accessible sections . this is an extremely interesting and useful book for a wide range of practising chemists. It is both an excellent place to start and, for those closer to the subject it is a good reference book." (Duncan MacQuarrie, Chemistry World, Vol. 2 (9), September, 2005) Product Description Homogeneous catalysis using transition metal complexes is an area of research that has grown enormously in recent years. Many amazing catalytic discoveries have been reported by researchers both in industry and in academia. Homogeneous Catalysis: Understanding the Art gives real insight in the many new and old reactions of importance. It is based on the author's extensive experience in both teaching and industrial practice. Each chapter starts with the basic knowledge and ends with up-to-date concepts. The focus of this book is on concepts, but many key industrial processes and applications that are important in the laboratory synthesis of organic chemicals are used as examples. The full range of topics is covered, such as fine chemicals, bulk chemicals, polymers, high-tech polymers, pharmaceuticals, but also important techniques and reaction types among other aspects. For a few reactions the process schemes, environmental concerns and safety aspects are included, to encourage catalyst researchers to think about these topics at an early stage of their projects and to communicate with chemical engineers, customers and the end-users. Homogeneous Catalysis: Understanding the Art provides a balanced overview of the vibrant and growing field of homogeneous catalysis to chemists trained in different disciplines and to graduate students who take catalysis as a main or secondary subject. This book is an invaluable tool for practising professionals and academia, including:
