Hello Everybody
I'm an electrical engineering student. I'm in my last year in college now. I love Robotics and Mechatronics, and I actually built one when I was studying the Pic Micro microcontroller class and I would like to share some pictures and may be share some ideas to show my support to this great Forum.
I built my robot using a PIC 16f876A. The language used is PICbasic.The robot is completely autonomous, meaning that it's self contained and can run for days(untill the battery dies ) without hitting neither the walls of my apartment nor any kind of object on the ground. I used two servos in order to get precise movement. I also used couple of IR (Infra Red) sensor (LEDs, and reciever) similar to the ones in the remote control. Just using this simple configuration I was able to make the robot avoid obstacles in its way. The robot has in it's logic a main adavantage which is it's capable of knowing when it gets stuck in any corner, and it's also capable of releasing it self and back to the its noraml position. I didn't add anything to my robot for one and half years as I didn't have the time, but nowadays I'm thinking about making it smarter, may be add a memory stick for mapping, and I'm open to suggestions.
