Mobile Networks and Services

Module Description

This course introduces the fundamentals of Mobile Networks (GSM, GPRS,
EDGE and UMTS) in terms of architectures and services.


You will learn about functional elements of each network (such as radio
aspects, access and core network) and their main interfaces. The course also
introduces the basics of Wi-Fi technology, their characteristics and standards,
security issues and services.
Furthermore the main procedures, service options and interconnection of fixed
and mobile networks are also discussed.
In the final part, the course presents some real examples of mobile
applications.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to understand:
the radio and core aspects of mobile networks
the main similarities and differences about mobile networks
the main aspect of Wi-Fi network and their interaction with fixed and mobile
networks
fixed and mobile networks interconnection
VAS platforms and services of mobile networks
